About this product
Thrown to about 3mm and fired to 1280°C, at which point porcelain vitrifies and becomes translucent — the shade glows from within rather than only casting downward. Each is thrown by hand, so the wall thickness varies slightly and the glow is uneven in a way a moulded shade is not.
Ceramic E27 lampholder, 3m braided cord and a ceiling rose in the same finish. No bulb included, deliberately: the right bulb for a translucent shade is a low-output frosted one and most people already have opinions about colour temperature.
Highlights
- Thrown to ~3 mm and vitrified at 1280°C — translucent
- Hand thrown, so the glow is uneven by nature
- Ceramic E27 holder, 3 m braided cord, matching rose
- No bulb included — the wrong bulb ruins the effect
- Three diameters, sold individually or as a graduated set

Better than I expected
I bought this after reading the specification twice and it is accurate. The finish is even, nothing rattles, and the weight is what was stated rather than what was hoped for.

Expected more at this price
Sizing is at least a half size small compared with everything else I own from this category. Worth ordering up.

Does what it says, nothing more
The build quality is genuinely good and I have no complaints there. It is a little heavier than I wanted, which the listing does state — I just did not weigh the alternative before ordering.

Does the job properly
Ordered on a Tuesday and it was here Thursday. Setup was straightforward and the documentation actually covered the thing I got stuck on.

Fine, but read the specification
Solid, unremarkable, and I mean that as a compliment. Nothing here surprised me either way.

No complaints at all
Packaging was minimal and recyclable, which I appreciated. The product itself is well finished and the instructions were clear enough that I did not need to look anything up.
