About this product
A 1920 × 1440 electronic-paper panel with a textured front laminate that gives the pen something to bite against — the difference between writing on glass and writing on paper is mostly friction, and this is where Vellum spent the money.
The pen is electromagnetic resonance: no battery, no pairing, no charging, and a nib that costs almost nothing to replace. Refresh is around 850ms for a full page and under 40ms for an ink stroke, which is the pair of numbers that decides whether a device like this is usable. Both are printed on the box.
Highlights
- Textured laminate — the pen has friction, not glass
- EMR pen: no battery, no pairing, replaceable nibs
- Stated refresh: 850 ms full page, sub-40 ms ink stroke
- Front light with adjustable colour temperature
- Exports to PDF and plain Markdown, over USB or WebDAV
